What is a Dipl.Ac.?
A Diplomate of Acupuncture is the highest level of national certification available to an acupuncturist in the U.S. To achieve this, practitioners must have attended an accredited 4-year Master’s Degree program in Eastern Medicine (2656 hours). This includes education in diagnosis, acupuncture, herbal medicine, biomedicine, nutrition, and ethics. A minimum of 410 clinical hours are required in addition to academic requirements. An applicant must pass three board exams and a background check in order to be given the designation of Diplomate, and must keep it in good standing with the NCCAOM by completing annual Continuing Education Units (CEUs). What is an EAP?
An EAP is an Enneagram Accredited Practitioner. The Enneagram itself is a personality typing system, based on 9 fundamental archetypes. It is unlike other personality tests in that it offers a map to higher self-awareness and access to new levels of perception and wisdom. Whereas many tests attempt to describe you as you are, the Enneagram shows you which stressors bring out the worst in you, and which scenarios inspire the best in you. The insight the Enneagram brings can be used as a powerful springboard for accelerated personal growth. According to the research of Candice Thomas, the Enneagram is a key metric for applying targeted health-creating strategies. To earn the EAP certification, awarded by the International Enneagram Association, applicants must have taken 200 hours in coursework, plus 100 hours of clinical work, and received 2 letters of recommendation from other EAPs.
